All IQOS ILUMA devices use the innovative SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™, which heats the tobacco from the inside without burning it. IQOS ORIGINALS on the other hand, heats the tobacco from the inside thanks to the HeatControl™ temperature control system with a ceramic blade. With the revolutionary SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ and the absence of blade, it is no longer necessary to clean IQOS ILUMA devices because there is no tobacco residues.

 

 

HeatControl technology vs. SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™

 

 

Heating tobacco devices from the IQOS ORIGINALS and IQOS 3 series, as well asQ older generations, are equipped with HeatControl technology. The tobacco is heated by a heating blade inside the device. The IQOS ILUMA generation, on the other hand, uses the new, innovative SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™, which heats the tobacco by means of induction. This means that the IQOS ILUMA does not have the heating blade that our previous devices had. This is one of the differences: damage to the heating blade, which would render the device unusable, is ruled out. Additionally, compared to the IQOS ORIGINALS DUO, the IQOS ILUMA PRIME and IQOS ILUMA are easier to use, thanks to the autostart/stop function. This function means that the tobacco heating device automatically starts heating when the tobacco stick, specially designed for IQOS ILUMA, is inserted. When the stick is removed, the device automatically stops the process.

The new induction technology of IQOS ILUMA tobacco heating devices requires the development of new tobacco sticks. They are heated by induction via a metal heating element inside the tobacco stick. The completely new tobacco sticks, designed especially for IQOS ILUMA, are sealed on both sides so that no tobacco can fall out. The advantage is that no tobacco residue can remain in the holder, so there is no need to clean it. New tobacco sticks can only be used with IQOS ILUMA devices.

 

 

The advanced features of IQOS ILUMA models

 

 

With IQOS ILUMA devices, advanced features and smart gestures are added:

 

 

• Autostart, an automatic start of heating when tobacco stick is inserted in the device.
• Autostop, an automatic stop of heating if tobacco stick is removed or moved during use.
• Battery status check by simply lifting the holder of IQOS ILUMA PRIME and IQOS ILUMA, and a direct check for IQOS ILUMA ONE by pressing the device button.
• Indicating experience duration by subtle vibrations for IQOS ILUMA PRIME and IQOS ILUMA holders and by status lights for the IQOS ILUMA ONE device.
